How do you like your carrots?

When you decide that you are going to make your baby's food you have to start to get creative when the other members in your family are vegatable haters. I decided that I would try some carrots with Bailey but since you can't go in the store and say can you give me 1/2 a carrot please you have to figure out what to do with the 2 pounds of carrots. Now, before you start commenting telling me how you can puree and freeze I know all that. But with a freezer packed to the gills with breastmilk that doesn't get used the last thing that I need is to stuff it full of frozen pureed vegatables that aren't going to be eaten! So, until I know she actually likes something I will have to eat the left overs myself. Shouldn't kill me and daddy should it?

So, I searched on the internet looking for recipes in which I thought that we would actually choke down some carrots. Ya, I don't really like carrots and if it isn't meat and potatos trev isn't crazy about it either. So, I found this recipe for marmalade candied carrots and the verdit is:

Mommy: Ate all of her carrots and put the rest in the fridge for further consumption

Daddy: Ate the few carrots he put on his plate but didn't give them rave reviews

Bear: She ate her carrots but still is not crazy about eating food. She still hasn't really grasped the concept of moving food down the hatch instead of out of the hatch. We will keep trying!

Anyway, try the recipe. I am sure it takes all nutritonal value out of the carrots or something and they are definelty not low fat but hey for carrots at $1.27 for 2 pounds how can you really go wrong?

26 weeks and 3 days

The sock monkey did not make the trip with us to PCB so we had to take the pics today. Bailey still loves to play with her feet for pics and now loves to always have her tongue out as well!Doesn't she look so lady like! HA! I thought this pic was hilarious!

Home Sweet Home

We are home from Panama City Beach and had a great time! Of course you will see all of this if you read my million posts below. We had a ton of fun showing Bailey all about beach life and as usual she went with the flow of everything. She was so worn out at the end of each day from exploring everything new! Anyway, I will be sharing more pics of our vacation soon!

Bailey's 1/2 Birthday!

Dear Bailey aka sugar bear, suggie, suggie bear, bear~

Today you turn 6 months old! I love you so much! We are on vacation right now in Panama City Beach, FL. I don't know if you know how great you have it to spend it in such a nice place. I afraid your 1st birthday it might be cold and probably not as beautiful. :( Oh well I will still make it a very special day for you! This is what you are up to these days:

1) I am guessing you weigh between 16 and 17 pounds
2) You wear a size 3 diaper
3) You wear 6-9 month clothes and some 12 month things
4) Your eyes are a beautiful blue and everyone compliments you on them
5) Your hair seems to be getting lighter and has a redish tinge to it.
6) You got to bed between 8 and 9 and get up between 7 and 8. You sleep straight through the night about 95% of the times. Sometimes you stir and get upset but if I go in and pat you on your back you go right back to sleep. You pretty much never want to eat in the night anymore which I actually miss. You take 3 naps each day. A couple of short ones in the morning and a big long one in the afternoon
7) You love to be sung too. Your favorites are daddy's sugar bear song, isty bitsy spider and patty cake with motions.
8) You have no teeth and do not seem to show any signs of teething!
9) You laugh hysterically all the time now. You only fuss when you are tired.
10) You love your jumparoo a lot and can really get it bouncing. You also bounce away while we hold you.
11) You love to hang out in just your diaper

12) You can mostly sit up. Although you are a little wobbly still.
13) You love to play on the floor with toys all around you. You pick up each one and investigate it thouroughly and then roll around getting to the other toys
14) You love being held by anyone
15) Everywhere we go people tell us 2 things: 1) You are good, happy baby 2) you are so beautiful and cute
16) You sleep on your belly in your swaddle sack with one arm out at night. For naps you sleep on your belly with a little blanket that Mimi made for you over you. You still sleep the best in your swaddle sack.
17) You are not that interested in solid foods although you do humor me and try them. You must not get this quality from me because I love food!
18) You nurse about every 3 or 4 hours or about 5 times a day
19) You love go in the swimming pool and kick your legs and splash the water. It doesn't seem to bother you when it splashes in your face
20) You are the most beautiful baby in the whole world! :)

I can't believe that these last 6 months have gone by so fast and that you have learned so much. I love teaching you do things and playing with you! I love you so much!

Love,
Mommy

P.S. Your daddy has written you a letter the old fashioned way and doesn't want to share it with the world. He is putting it in a safe place he says. I hope he remembers where that is! :)

PCB Friday - Last Day :(

We swam in the morning in the pool, relaxed on the beach, napped in the afternoon, and enjoyed one last beautiful evening on the beach! This has been a great vacation! It was so nice that Bailey could still nap while we enjoyed the beach and that Trev and I could hang out in the evenings after she went to bed. Can't wait until next year!

PCB Wednesday

We had another relaxing day chillin' on the beach and relaxing in condo while Bailey napped. I wish I could sit on a balcony looking at the ocean everday while she napped! :) HA! In the evening we took photos on the beach. I am hoping my sister has got some better pics because our family pics are not great becasue my lens was foggy. It also clouded up once we started to take pics so we lost the sun glow on our faces but what are you going to do once you have 30 people dressed and ready to go for pics? :( Anyway, I still have a ton of pics in this post!

PCB Tuesday - Just chillin'

We were tired from Shell Island the day before and Trev was a little lobster like from the sun so we didnt do a lot today. We relaxed around condo in the morning and then went to pool for a bit. Then went back to condo and Bailey had a big nap. Trev stayed in the condo with her and I relaxed on the beach. We then got ready to go to dinner and stopped by and visited Aunt Melly and the cousins. We then went to eat at a burger place and then headed back to condo to put Bailey to bed. Nice relaxing day!

PCB Monday - Shell Island

On Monday someone in our group rented a pontoon boat and we headed over to shell island to spend the day. It was really warm because they are having a heat wave here but it was nice to swiw in the bay and relax on beach. My camera battery died on the way over on the pontoon boat but I got a few pics off my sisters Facebook. Bailey enjoyed her first boat ride. Actually she was due for a nap so she fell asleep to the nice hum of the engine. I was glad because I was hoping she wouldn't scream when she got her life jacket on. Of course just like anything else she just went with the flow. Anyway, we relaxed on the beach, road jet skis, saw some dolphins, and swam. It was probably a little much for Bailey as she couldn't get in very long naps. Once we were back at the condo she fell asleep from 5 - 7 woke up and then went back to bed at 8 and slept until 7. One tired bear!

Relaxing on the beach but thinking of and missing you!

It has been one year since I lost my Misty girl. The pain of losing her creeps up from time to time and I sometimes want to cry but mostly I smile remembering her sweet old lady spirit. Anyway, I thought about her a lot to day as I relaxed on the beach. It was nice to be away from the house but also hard since I am away from my Dukester! Anyway, I hope that you are running around at the rainbow bridge. I miss you lots!

PCB Sunday - First time in the pool

We were so glad to wake up and not have to hop back in the car. Ok well we actually did to make our trip to Wal-Mart and stock up on food and supplies for the week. Once we made it back we headed down to the beach. As usual bear was relaxed and enjoyed hanging out while someone held her. We then took her to enjoy her first time in the pool! She loved it! She liked you to hold her while she kicked her legs around. She also enjoyed chillin in her crab float! After swimming the bear had a big long 3 hour nap and then we got ready and went to eat at the all you can eat crab leg place. Of course the bear and I did not partake in the crab crackin' festivities and I had to pay way to much to enjoy some dried fried chicken but I think daddy enjoyed enough for the both of us! I forgot to take a picture of his like 15 plates of crab legs! BLAH!

She already gets this relaxin' on the beach thing!

Finally to PCB

After another 8 hours in the car and one missed turn by someone who shall remain nameless we reached PCB! We had some trouble getting checked in but made it up to our condo with all of our junk! Man why did I pack so much...oh ya I have a baby! :) Anyway, we got our swimsuits on and headed to the beach! I had the bear in her sling and she even fell asleep because she was so tired because she can't seem to stay asleep in the car for more than like 30 minutes at a time! I got these pics off my sisters facebook so they are not great quality but I am just trying to keep the dialogue of our trip going. Better pics to come...even one of the bear asleep in the sling in the ocean!

Dressed and ready for the beach!

Finally on the beach after 2 days in the car!

Sweet tired bear!

Texans glad to be on the beach!
