13 months

Sugar bear you are 13 months old today! You are so happy all the time and so much fun! I could play with you all day and listen to you laugh! Anyway, this is what you are up to these days..

1) Weigh between 23 - 24 pounds, wear a size 4 diaper and 18 month clothes

2) You are pretty good about feeding yourself most anything but fruits and veggies. You frown at the texture of them. You are going through a phase too where you really like something one day and refuse to eat it the next day. However you never shy away from yogurt, baby food green beans or goldfish crackers! You also are very eager to eat whatever we eat and have even had spicy chili.

3) You are still nursing about 3 times a day. You nurse the most in the morning and after I pick you up in the afternoon. Some days it seems you are nursing less and then the next day it seems like you are 9 months old again. I wouldn't trade it for the world though

4) You go to bed between 7 and 8 and get up around 7. You are getting to were you only take one 2 -3 hour nap but sometimes still need a short morning nap especially if you have to get up early.

5) You love music and to laugh and dance to all your toys
6) You are getting better at walking by the day and within the last few days will walk without being enticed a few steps but still prefer crawling. I wish you would walk soon because the weather will be nice and crawling outside is hard!
7) You still love Duke to pieces and either say dog or Duke I am not sure which but is is different than dada. You laugh at him every day
8) You have 4 teeth. 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. The ones next to the top ones look like they might be the next to come in
9) You still love bath time and really enjoy pouring water out of your pelican pitcher
10) You love you toy box in the living room full of toys and will pull ALL the toys out
11) You are really good with your hammer and peg toy and it gives you great joy. You even know to turn it over once you have all the pegs hammered in. I think daddy is going to have you start building something before your 2nd birthday. He may think twice though because you also take the pegs and put them into your ball popper! :) He He!

Well that sums up a little about you! There is probably so much more that I am forgetting! What I do know is that me and your daddy love you so much!

That's what I love about Texas

Nice evenings even in January that is! It was so nice when I got off work today so I sat on the porch with Sugar Bear and pushed her in her swing! I don't think I could live anywhere else...ok maybe Hawaii! :)

Everlasting Balloon?

I am not sure how long Mylar balloons are suppose to hold their helium but I really didn't think it would be close to a month! After Bailey's b-day party I thought I would leave her balloon up for awhile because she likes to play with it like this:

but really thought that in about a week it would deflate and I would take it down. Well here we are almost 4 weeks later and it floating just the same as it was on day one! So, now I leave it up so Bailey can still play with it but truth be told I am just curious to see how long it is going to last now! Any guesses?

Sweet, tired bear thinks it will last forever! :)

Moms aren't suppose to get sick. Right?

Wrong! The stomach bug plague hit our house yesterday and did so with a vengence. I woke up not feeling quite right but kept convincing myself I was fine. I could tell Bailey must not have felt good either becasue she was refusing to eat except for nurse. Again, I was in denail. I started feeling pretty bad and was oh so thankful it was nap time. I lay her down and tried to get some rest myself but that "oh this is going not be good" feeling kept coming over me and then my mouth started watering and I bet you know the rest. I thought Bailey is going to be up soon and I am going to need Trev to come home. So, I called him but he didn't answer and then the next thing I heard was the sound of someone barfing too. It was Trev in the driveway he had just come home from work....you guessed it sick as a dog too. It is quite comical to look back on it now but it was ugly yesterday. Bailey was a good sport and went about playing with her toys as we made our MANY trips to the bathroom but she still refused to eat and I nursed her the best my dehydrated body could. Thank god she was ready for an early bed and was asleep by 6:45 so that Trev and I could finish suffering without having to worry about her. At like 10:00 my body finally stopped rejecting itself and I was able to fall asleep. I heard Bailey wake up at like 10:30 and it sounded like she was coughing or was she barfing? I waited a minute because to be honest I had about zero energy left in me and thought if she is barfing she was start crying but she didn't and resettled back to sleep and I tried to get some sleep too despite feeling like being run over by a Mac truck. At around 1 I came to and felt well enough to be worried about Bailey. So, I go into her room and as soon as I open her door the smell hits me and then I look in her crib and she is sleeping soundly in her own barf! I felt horrible and then instantly felt like something must be wrong with her if she never even cried. So, I go and wake Trev up. We get her up get her changed, sheets changed, a bath, and she is laughing and acting completly fine. I nursed her the best I could and got her back to sleep and then heard her barf again so got up and repeated above routinue and then nursed her and got her back to sleep again!

Anyway, me and Trev woke up this morning feeling like we had been run over but at least were not in the bathroom every 10 minutes. Bailey has not been sick since and is eating again today so I guess she is feeling better. I am dehydrated and so she wanting to nurse about every 2 or 3 hours but that is fine by me. We tried offering a bottle but she didn't want it and is drinking water so I guess she is getting what she needs. I think babies are super smart and she knew what she needed to do the day she woke up and that was to not eat and nurse nurse.

So, we have survived and are now eating saltine crackers, drinking gatorade and are now eating some soup. Trev and I have known each other for 8 years and NEVER been sick at the same time and I hope that we don't have a repeat performance any time soon...no make that EVER!

Chillin' in the dipe

Wow! I have been being a total blog slacker. It seems the older Bailey gets the less blogging I do which isn't such a big deal except it means I am hardly taking pictures either. Anyway, I got the camera out last night becasue Bailey was craking me up after her bath. You see daddy gives baths but for some reason has difficulty getting her PJs on without her screaming. He doesn't seem to get the concept that it is winter and it is cold thus that is why she is screaming. Anyway, I came into the rescue last night and got her dry and WARM and then she was laughing hysterically at everything in her room.
Ever since I got the humidifer out for winter she is quite obsessed with it. Perhaps she needs a fish tank......wait bad idea because I am pretty sure the fish would end up dead becasue she has knocked the humidifer over several times! :)

No fish for you crazy bear!

Cowboys and a few "real" steps

It seems that the whole world is gearing up for the Cowboys game this evening. Trev's mom and step dad are in town and they are at the game. We are cheering from home and Bailey has been dressed to support all day. She has also been taking a few really good steps today as well. She has taken a few baby steps on accident but I think we can call this real walking! The videos are below. The first one is when she was first starting her practice (do you see who is a little over protective?) and the second is after a little practice. I think she is getting better already!

The good, the bad and stevie wonder

The good thing about being a teacher as a working mom is the long breaks that you get to be at home with your kids. I loved being home with Bailey over Christmas break. The bad thing is that once they go back its like leaving them all over again. I think I probably make my sitter nuts because when I drop off Bailey after a break I give her all these instructions like she doens't know how to take care of her! HA! Anyway, the other good news is that as of now Bailey doesn't seem to have any seperation issues and was happy to see Marjorie and even happier to see a big pile of toys that she happily crawled over too. Anyway, after a few hours I was ok with having left her as I usually am but can't wait until I can be home with her for a few days again. Oh the afternoon naps are pretty good too when I am home!

I have been trying to capture Bailey "dancing" to the music on her table for a while now but everytime I get out the camera she stops doing it. ARRGGGGHHH...anyway today I had the camera at the right time but not exactly the right spot. The window behind her is causing the picture to be all blurry but I think you get the point. I tried to move and get it from a different angle on the second video but as you will see she didn't perform quite the same. :( It makes me laugh so hard everytime she does it and I think she looks like Stevie Wonder or something! HA! Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Bailey's First Year Video

Well it's a little long but I think it is wonderful. I think 14 minutes for a whole year is pretty good! So, grab some popcorn and turn up the music and relax! He He!

20 things I have learned in the last decade

As I watch the news programs there doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about the last decade. 10 years ago there was so much talk about the 90s and Y2K but this year another decade has passed with not much celebration. So, I got to thinking about my decade. I have now lived for 3 complete decades and this is the decade in which I have been an adult so why I have not changed that much on the outside (ok maybe a few pounds) I feel a lot has changed on the inside or just in life in general. So, I figured I would tell you the 20 things I have learned in the last decade. I tried to go in order.

1) When you graduate college you still may be completely clueless about what you want to do with your life.

2) Making friends and dating after college is difficult and strange.

3) Dating someone from a different culture can be interesting and fun, but for me at the end of the day what is best is what is familiar

4) Your parents are actually pretty smart.

5) Living by yourself can be great at times but sometimes it really stinks to come home to an empty house at the end of a long day

6) Buying stuff all on your own and supporting yourself is very rewarding.

7) Not all people are trustworthy and not all people deserve to have you in their life.

8) When finding a spouse look for someone who makes you laugh and is your friend.

9) Marriage is what you make of it.

10) Not all 7th graders know their multiplication tables or how to divide and some many have experience a much harder life than you have ever known.

11) Being a teacher is like having 140 kids to worry about when you lay down at night and makes you VERY thankful for your upbringing

12) Dogs are the most loyal creatures on the face of the earth and saving a few here or there is rewarding

13) We live with way to much stuff in the US and so many other parts of the world live with so much less.

14) Buying your first house is scary on one hand and super exciting on the other.

15) Teaching can try your patience on one day and leave you blessed the next.

16) Losing your pets is much harder as an adult than as a child.

17) Being pregnant is one of the best feelings in the world and giving birth is wonderful.

18) Being a mom fills you with a different kind of love that is hard to explain.

19) Everyone has their opinion on what you should do to raise your child however as the mom only you know what is best.

20) Sort of clicheish but Life is short and for some people even shorter so live each day like it was your last.
