Hi everyone, its Trever Here. Janet is talking to the lactation consultant right now while I type this. After being 12 days late Bailey has finally arrived and is doing great. It was no easy task for Janet but she came through with flying colors.
Her contractions really started coming strong around 10:00 pm on the 25th. By 11:00 her contractions were lasting about a minute and were a minute to a minute and half apart so she decided it was time to head to the hospital. We got there at 12:00 and she tried to labor without drugs as planned for about 4 hours, but it was nothing like she was expecting. The contractions were really strong and were just one right after another. She said one would start and by the time it almost completely faded away, the next one would start. She just didn’t have anytime to recover in between.
Around 4:00 she decided to get an epidural and it really helped with the pain. We were both able to nap a little bit. At 1:30 the next day it was time to start pushing and that was when the real work began. The baby was coming out head first like she was supposed to, but one of her arms was up by her head it was kinda causing her to bind up. Janet pushed and pushed for two and a half hours and just looked completely exhausted. The doctor started talking to her about doing a C-section or using the foresepts, but she was determined not to let that happen. She dug down deep and pushed with all her might for another half hour and Bailey finally came out.
We’re here in the postpartum room right now just relaxing and trying to get the hang of the breastfeeding. (Janet is I mean.) Bailey has been a very pleasant baby to be around. She’s just been eating, sleeping, and pooping. I guess that will be her routine for a while. Here’s a picture of our little buddle of joy. I’m sure Janet will be posting more soon.
