PCB Day 7 - Shell Island

We rented a pontoon boat and headed out to shell island one morning.  It turned out to be sort of a fiasco of a trip but we made the best of it.

Mason was ready for an island with clear water and dolphin spotting!

Dave was ready too well until the submarine ride! We had way to many people on the boat and at one point the nose of it started going down under the water and we all thought that for sure that we would sink.  We got the boat more leveled out but we all thought we were about to sink!

Shell Island....my sister has been going to PCB for many years and they have been to Shell Island many years so we were expecting a fun day in the clear water, shell collecting and hopefully spotting some dolphins.  We had noticed the water looked different than before and then once we made it to the island.....

the water looked like this....clear but RED! What in the world! Apparently they have had so much rain that it has caused some type of weed to grow do to all the fresh water.  This type of weed makes the water red. :(  It was so disappointing!

We found a place to dock the boat though and the girls still enjoyed themselves playing in the calmer bay water.

Twisty swimming in the red water.

Twist was so tired she passed right out on the beach.

Sugie learned to paddle around on the boogie board

She was cracking me up

We even found an ice cream boat! Sugie enjoyed a ice cream sandwich.

Twisty woke up and we called it a day soon after.  Shell Island was a bust but we made the most of it.
