12 weeks and getting tricky

Hey there! I am 12 weeks old today!

I LOVE to chew on my fist! Yummy!

I am happy most of the time although I do not give much warning when I get mad! HA!

Want to see my new trick? Watch the video below. It is my new ploy to get out of tummy time!

Nana Visit

Nana came to visit this week and I did a HORRIBLE job at taking pictures. In fact the only pics I took are these at the zoo which means I got ZERO pics of Nana with Mckenzie! Bad momma!

Excuse my lack of camera skills on this one! HA! OF course we let Nana ride the carousel

As yall know we go to the zoo all the time but it seems we have a different experience a lot! We saw the elephants eating up close.

Saw the Penguins

THis Lion was pawing at the glass at Sugie. I think he was sizing her up for a little snack! ;)

I think this is my favorite new zoo photo

Kai's grandma bought him some lettuce to fee the giraffes.

Kai was very nice and shared some of his lettuce with Bailey!

THanks for sharing with us Kai!

Sorry I didn't get more pictures Nana. :(

Happy Easter!

Sugie woke up this morning to find eggs on the stairs! Yipee!

SHe also found some goodies in her basket. Sister got some goodies too but she wasn't too interested! :)

Sister Bear in her cute dress! :)

Now I had a friend make the girls matching easter dresses and I wanted so bad to have their picture together!

But sometimes that is just not possible. Anyway, things were not going good before we left and I thought I would get a pic at friend's house but then Mckenzie slept the whole time and then when we got home Sugie crashed out for a nap. Oh well I will get their pic together some other time.

Amy holding Mckenzie.

Sweet Sugie in her dress. I had to sneak a picture.

Daysha, bought the kids baskets to decorate with stickers. Sugie thought it was great fun!

Fun with the toddlers

I think Karen was having the most fun though

Egg Hunt

The dads hid the eggs. In fact they may have had more fun hiding them than the kids did finding them! :)

It was a great time! No this isn't Sugie's hat. She stole it from her friend Fiona. I would love for her to wear hats and bows but she only does it on her own accord! Silly Girl! Anyway, happy Easter to all!

11 weeks

Hey there! I am 11 weeks already! Like my mittens? My mom had to put them on me because I kept scratching myself and it made me really angry. I can't wait until I get control of those hands! :)
Like my blue eyes? Everyone seems to say they do and mom tells me that they look like my sister's eyes.

I can be really happy one minute and totally not happy the other minute. It is usually when I am tired. If I get tired you better put me in my swaddle sack so I can sleep!

Thanks for following me as I grow with the Monkey!

Once a Month Cooking the solution to shopping and cooking with kids..I think! EDITED with reviews of meals

So, if you can remember back a long time ago I started "Menu Monday" HAve you seen a "Menu Monday" post in a while? The answer is no. It is very frustrating to me how much time, money, and food we waste on groceries and eating out. When we did the Menu Monday thing it was great, but that soon wore off. While being on unpaid maternity leave I have kept a closer watch on our finance and I would be embarrassed at our grocery bill and even more embarrassed by our eating out bill.

I really like to cook but I hate cooking for an hour, then cleaning up for an hour when I would rather spend that time with my family. I also hate shopping with kids in tow. I can get it done if I have to but I feel like it is a divide and conquer mission and I have gotten lazy and often head to the store without a list and without coupons. Its just poor planning all around.

When we first had Mckenzie everyone brought us meals. It was so nice just to warm something up or pop something in the oven and have little cleanup and our family had a nice meal. So, that got me to thinking about freezer meals so I started the freezer meal group which is AWESOME. I am really loving that a lot.

While looking for good freezer meal recipes I have come across a lot of "once a month cooking" blogs and really got to reading about how to go about doing this. There are a lot of them out there some that even have it down to grocery lists. For example this site she has everything layed out. It is great she has done all the work for you but 1/2 of the meals do not sound like things that my family would eat. So, with a little thought and advice from other blogs I have embarked on the mission on my own. I spent all day (on and of between naps, etc.) forming my plan. I looked at the once a month mom blog that I mentioned above and followed her template for the grocery list and even took a few recipes from there. I read on another blog that it is best to pick 2 meats and try to make all your meals from there. I basically did that with a few exceptions. I figured if I could come up with 15 meals to make for my freezer in one day that would be a good goal to begin with. I figure I will have those 15 plus 5 more from my freezer group. I ended up picking 8 different recipes. 7 of those are really for like 8 people so I am making the full batch but then seperating it to freeze it to have 2 different times in the month. Hey, we have been eating so many tacos and spaghetti that I figure we can have a good meal twice in a month!

So, here is what is for dinner for the next month. I linked the recipe website if I have it in case any of you are interested. Some of them I haven't tried but they sound good. I also made a deatailed shopping list and will be shopping soon and then cooking over a day or two.

1) Cream Cheese Chicken (Going to be 2 meals) Very good. I like it over rice and trever likes it over noodles. Over noodles it is like Chicken Tetrazeni with Candied Carrots Yummy and I am not a carrot eater
2)Cheesy Chicken Fajitas (I am going to alter recipe and serve on tortillas) Going to be 2 meals THis was pretty good but nothing to right home about.
3)Porcupine Meatballs with Pasta Salad (I have a box mix that I bought a while back and of course have not used) Yucky! Did not care for them at ALL! :(
4)Easy CHicken Cordon Bleu (Going to alter and but bacon that I need for other recipes instead of the ham. Also going to double for 2 meals) Really good. Although I am not sure it would be a favorite with kiddos. Bailey passed it up with Twice Baked Potatoes (Going to put some bacon on those too!) Yummy! I even heated them up in the microwave instead of baking and they were good
5) Meat Loaf with green beans that are already in the pantry. Going to be 2 meals as well. A nice twist on meatloaf. We had this the night I made it and still have left overs in the fridge. I am wondering if it is going to be better now.
6) Breakfast Burritos - I figure we might have it for breakfast on the weekend or maybe breakfast for dinner one night . Going to be 2 meals I have just been eating these in the morning here or there. I froze them in small portions. Makes a nice filling breakfast.
7) Fiesta - This is something I got from Trev's family. Basically you make taco meat and then serve it with tomatos, fritos, coconut, sour cream, lettuce, olives, rice, and pecans and pile it all together. It is an easy quick meal so I think I may just freeze the beef and then cook it on the fly or I may cook and season it and then freeze it. I haven't decided yet. Its going to be 2 meals.
8) Lasagna with Bacon and Red wine Going to be 2 meals. THis meal is a lot of work but really good. I made it for my freezer group this month.

So, that is the plan my people. I am hoping to make only one big trip to the store a month. I know I will have to go for some staples like bread and milk but I am hoping to cut down the wasting of food and money. I am also going to start clipping and using coupons again. I am not going to be able to use coupons on this big trip but hope to use them next month. I will let you all know how it turns out! Wish me luck!

Neighborhood Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood had their annual easter egg hunt and of course the Easter bunny was there. We saw the Easter bunny right when we got there and I don't think Sugie was afraid of him she just didn't want to stand their for a picture. This was the best I got! HA!

Because soon she was escaping. SHe has a smile on her face so whe wasn't afraid she just was ready to go do other stuff! :)
If I crop out Sugie though look how cute sister bear looks!

They had the easter egg hunt divided into age groups. The 0-2 age group of course just had the eggs thrown out on the ground. Trev said this isn't going to be a challenge! What is funny is that there were so many kids and parents that it was a challenge once it began and as soon as Sugie figured out what you were suppose to do she was weaving in and out of people to find the eggs! :)

Ready for the hunt

I really didn't get any pictures of the actual hunt because there were so many people. However, after the hunt was over Sugie dumped her eggs out so that she could put them back in her basket.
Cutie with her eggs!

Since we didn't get any good pics and Sugie was enjoying egg hunting so much Trev set them back out for her. She was happily running all over picking up the eggs and

probably would have kept picking them up over and over again but soon...

...she figured out they had candy and picking up the eggs was not as fun anymore!
THey also had a bounce house that Sugie jumped in until they literally turned the thing off to pack it up.

We had a great time and I think Sugie is ready for another easter egg hunt!

Tyler Zoo

We went to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler today. I have always heard what an awesome zoo that it is but had never been to check it out. So, when we woke up today I just decided to go on a whim. It turned out to be a perfect day for it and my little Sugie was in an awesome mood and loved every minute of it. I don't think she had one tantrum while she was there! HA! It is a beautiful zoo and just the right size. It reminded me of the waco zoo.
This is my tour guide...sugar the bear. I think she possibly has watched too much Dora becuase she exclaimed "MAP!" when she saw it and just had to carry it around! HA! :) She finally put it down to feed the birds. We stopped and had a little snack with the giraffes and elephants.
I remembered to snap a picture of Mckenzie today! Most of the time she is alseep on me but she did some stroller riding today too. She was so happy this morning but was super fussy this afternoon and evening. Maybe she had too much fun this morning and not enough rest?
I think this was Bailey's favorite part of the day.
She loves to feed anything (including me and her dady) so feeding the birds was right up her ally. THere were a million school kids there today and so when we first go in the aviary there were a million kids running around. No kids were sitting still enough for the birds to come up but I told Sugie she had to sit real steal for the birds to come up. I was amazed to see her follow my advice!

I was also amazed at how much I got her to look at the camera today too! HA! She did not want to leave the birds but I finally convinced her to say "bye bye birds"
BEAR!

Sugie loves sandboxes! I think we need to head to the beach!
